Try these simple, inexpensive tricks to keep yourself on the straight and narrow
- Boat not flat? – fit an inclinometer (but do ensure you boat is level when you fix it!)
- Do not get lost – laminate yourself a course chart, or draw one on:
- Waterproof paper – pads are cheap – tape it soemwhere easy to see and tie a pencil into the boat. Use for wind bearings, tide times, whatever you will forget but need to know
- Where key control lines (kicker etc) are lead to each side, make the line continuous with a nice splice (a how-to will be along shortly)
- Never use a figure of eight stopper knot. They come undone. Use a Bond Special instead (an overhand knot, then take the tail around again)
