For the neglected majority…

The vast majority of people who race sailboats rarely travel to Opens or championships. Their sailing is defined by constaints  in all directions, often including their own ambition.

But virtually every sailing book is aimed either at complete beginners or making us into champions – a journey most of us will never even start.

My ambition is to fix this neglect – this is a guide to get more satisfaction and a better outcome from your sailing time – with ways and means that are realistic and will work for you. It won’t having you scaring our Olympic heroes of course, but it will help you get more from that precious time on the water

By a club-racer, for club sailors

Like most keen amateur sailors, I have read pretty much every sailing book going. If I’d absorbed and put into practice a decent fraction of that knowledge, I’d be far far better than i am. And I’ll wager I am not alone in this.

So this site is intended to be different. Sailing is an escape not the core of our lives. We rarely if ever practice. We are perfect illustrations of that definition of madness – repeatedly doing the same thing but expecting a different outcome.

But sailing is about adapting to change – and we all can get better by adapting out approach. How. Keep watching this space and, in time, all will be revealed.
